It's a new year and as you are still in gym frequency mode, you're probably thinking about if you need a career change. I often tell people that if they want to change careers that have the most longevity, work in healthcare or IT. So if you are looking for a career change, I suggest considering work within the healthcare and IT industries. As millions of baby boomers continue to retire, there are new jobs within healthcare opening everyday. You might be thinking, but I'm an accountant. That's absolutely fine because there are millions of jobs within the healthcare sector from accountants to attorneys to market managers to recruiters. So as you make it to the next level incline of the treadmill in the new year, start taking stock about your next career move. How to go about taking the next steps to that career move may take you a few more incline levels to strategize. So if you want a career change in a different industry, here are a few ways to start:
- Revise your resume
- Update your LinkedIn profile
- Call friends who work in industries you're interested in and ask one to be your mentor
- Go to meetup groups in your city for the professional organizations of the industry that interests you
- Follow industry leaders in your interested field on social media
- Research like crazy and read tons on different industries
I hope these steps help launch you into your next career. Don't forget to first network with those you know. Sometimes we tend to Google something before just calling someone to ask a question.
So even if your gym visits begin to wane, don't worry because you can build up the strengths section of your resume..
